How to use AI Overviews now and before everyone else
How to use AI Overviews now and before everyone else .. Google's new search engine based on artificial intelligence
Google is ready to revolutionize its flagship product, search, with artificial intelligence. During the first day of Google I/O 2024, the company officially announced the arrival of AI Overview, a new search method that uses generative AI to revolutionize the search experience, by replacing classic search results pages with other pages generated by Google through artificial intelligence.
Although AI Overviews is initially only available in the US, it’s possible to try this new search method in the rest of the world if you follow the right steps. We’ll show you how you can try this built-in Google Search feature for yourself.
- AI Overviews Step by Step Experience
First, it is necessary to highlight that since AI Overviews is only available in the United States, for the following process it will be necessary to use a VPN service that allows you to connect to a server located in the United States.
Once you have used a VPN service and changed the location to the United States, you can now follow the steps to test the built-in AI in Google Search:
- In your browser, activate the VPN service and connect to a server hosted in the US.
- Open Chrome browser, go to Google Search Labs page , where you will need to sign in with your Google account.
- Under “AI Experiences,” you’ll see a section called “AI Overview and More.” You should click the “Activate” button.
That’s it. With the experiment already enabled, the next time you perform a Google search (with the VPN service activated), you’ll see a new AI Overview section at the top of the results page, which may include an AI-generated summary and other extras that the language model used might consider relevant.
Since the experiments apply to the Google account you're signed in with, you'll also see AI-generated results if you search on your mobile phone, as long as you're connected to a VPN server in the US.
