How to move programs to any location on the hard drive without affecting their operation
If you are using a small SSD or HDD for Windows and you want to move programs from one place to another or partition to another, this is not done by copying the folder that contains the files to run this program and pasting it in the second place because this may cause problems in running the program, so in this post we will learn about a simple tool that solves this problem for you.
The method relies on the Symbolic link feature in Windows, which allows you to link a folder located anywhere on the computer to another folder without having to move its contents. Symbolic link shortcuts can be created manually in Windows, but we will use the FolderMove tool, which is a free and portable program that moves the program folder to another location, but Windows believes that the program folder is still in its original location and therefore works without any problems.
Download the tool from the link below the post and after running it, click the Browse button in the Move From box and select the program folder you want to move to another location and click OK. It is usually in Program Files or Program Files ×86. In the Move To box, click Browse and select the folder where you want to move the program
Then click Move and set Symbolic link to move the program folder to the new location and create a Symbolic link shortcut, which is the feature that makes Windows think that the program folder is still in its original location. After the move process is complete, shortcuts will be created in the original location, but the contents of the folder itself will be in the new location.
