How to block specific websites on any computer in two different ways The first method is difficult to detect
The diversity and abundance of Internet content is both useful and harmful, depending on the type of content provided by the sites, which is not suitable for all people. To get rid of the harm of these sites, they must be blocked from working. In this post, we will learn about two ways to block any site you want with complete ease.
- The first method is by modifying the Hosts file.
Open the Hosts file located at the following path "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" as a text file using Notepad.
Then enter the name of the site you want to block preceded by this IP as follows: “127.0.0.1www.youtube.com” and the site will be blocked on the entire Windows.
- The second method is blocking in a specific browser.
If you have more than one browser and want to block a site on them, download the Block site add-on from the link below the post, which is available for all browsers, whether Firefox, Chrome or Edge. After that, you can easily block any site by going to the site and then clicking on the add-on icon in the top bar of the browser while opening the site. You will find a message appearing to confirm whether you want to block the current site or not. Once you click OK, the current site will be added to the list of sites.
You can also specify a password for the settings of these add-ons to prevent the blocking settings from being cancelled. When you want to open the site, you must enter the password and the site will open normally.
You can set a specific schedule to block sites by adding the start and end times of the day you want from the "Schedule Blocking" table.
Through "Redirect URL" you can specify any alternative link to direct the user to when entering the link of the site you have blocked or display a specific message when trying to open the site through "User Message".
Note: The application was applied to Firefox browser, but the method is very similar on other browsers.
