Here's How You Can Use Apple Intelligence Now on Your iPhone 16 and 15 Pro
The great asset of the new iPhone 16 is Apple’s artificial intelligence, called Apple Intelligence. There’s a catch: Apple Intelligence won’t arrive on the iPhone 16 until December in the US. The rest of the world will see it sometime in 2025. Fortunately, there’s a way to enjoy it now.
The iPhone 16 and iOS 18 launch was very lackluster, because Apple’s AI won’t arrive until iOS 18.1 in December, and that will be in some countries. And it will be a long time for Europe, because Apple is at war with the European Union.
The thing about AI acting as an assistant is that to be effective, it has to completely invade your privacy. It has to know everything about you. And the EU doesn’t like that without due process. Both Apple’s AI and Meta’s AI violate the Digital Services Act, so they won’t be released in Europe for now.
- This is how you can activate Apple Intelligence now
Apple Intelligence can only be used with all its functions on an iPhone equipped with an NPU or AI chip, i.e. on the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16.
As I mentioned, Apple Intelligence will only be available in iOS 18.1, which is currently in beta. So, the first thing you need to do is sign up for Apple’s beta program, on this site . After signing in, go to Settings on your iPhone and download and install the iOS 18.1 beta.
The next step is to “trick” iOS into thinking you are using an American iPhone, and that you live in the United States.
To do this, on your iPhone go to Settings, General, Language & Region, and select English and United States as the country.
The final step is to create an Apple ID, i.e. an Apple account in the US. Go to the Apple ID website and create an account, making sure to select the US as your country. You will have to add a mobile phone number, but thankfully they don’t check if it’s a US-registered mobile phone.
After receiving the SMS confirmation message containing the code, you can use this US account as a secondary ID for your mobile phone.
Go to the App Store, sign out with your current ID, and sign in with your US account. You’re all set now. Go to Settings on your phone, go to the Apple Intelligence section, and sign up for the waitlist, if there is one. They’ll soon give you access to Apple Intelligence, and you’ll be able to try it on your mobile.
Keep in mind that everything you do from this point on with your iPhone will be tied to your US account, not your old one. The whole point: to get Apple Intelligence up and running on your iPhone.
