Finally the solution has arrived Recover your Facebook or Instagram account by uploading a personal video photo
Meta will use facial recognition to help users who have lost access to their Facebook and Instagram accounts verify their identity by uploading a video selfie.
You can lose access to your Meta social media account for a number of reasons, such as forgetting your password, changing devices, or as a result of a cyber scam. Currently, Meta tries to verify the identity of the account holder before granting them access again, especially if they believe it has been hacked, in which case they ask for an official document that includes their name. Additionally, they have started testing the use of video selfies.
This new method will require the user to upload a video selfie to the platform, which Meta will compare with the photos the user has uploaded to their personal account with the help of facial recognition technology.
As it explains on its official blog , this video will be “encrypted and stored securely,” will not be displayed in plain text, and any facial data generated after the match will be deleted “immediately,” whether or not there is a match.
Meta stressed that “video selfie verification expands the options for people to regain access to their accounts, takes only a minute, and is the easiest way to verify your identity.”
