Convert from FAT32 to NTFS without formatting on flash drive partition

If you intend to convert from FAT32 to NTFS on the flash drive or partition inside the hard disk for any reason, perhaps the strongest of these reasons to solve the problem of File is too large for the destination file system on the flash drive, this is because the flash drive that works with the Fat32 file system does not accept transferring any file to it larger than 4 GB.

Also, if you want to convert the partition from NTFS to Fat32 or vice versa without formatting the flash drive or partition and without losing any files from the flash drive or partition, you can do so by using the Fat32 to Ntfs conversion command on the CMD command prompt in Windows. Here is how to do that with a practical experiment in the video in addition to a detailed explanation with pictures.

How to convert the file system from FAT32 to NTFS on a partition or flash drive without formatting or programs

After connecting the flash drive to the computer, you will open the command prompt COmmand Prompt or CMD in Windows with administrator privileges Run As Administrator by following the steps as shown in the following image

After that, you will know the letter next to the flash drive or partition that you intend to convert from FAT32 to Ntfs. As an example, the flash drive that we will convert is on the letter D. We will write this command and press enter after that.

convert D: /FS:NTFS

To save you the trouble of editing, you can copy the appropriate command according to the letter of the partition or flash drive from the following list.

  • convert C: /FS:NTFS
  • convert E: /FS:NTFS
  • convert D: /FS:NTFS
  • convert F: /FS:NTFS
  • convert G: /FS:NTFS
  • convert H: /FS:NTFS
  • convert I: /FS:NTFS
  • convert J: /FS:NTFS

I think this is enough :) Once you press Enter, Windows will perform the conversion from Fat32 to NTFS and tell you that the process was completed successfully.

You can check the result by right-clicking on the flash drive or partition, then choosing Properties. You will find the file system as shown in the picture.
