Apple to launch exclusive app store for games
It seems that Apple is working on something very big and very exciting for all video game lovers. According to some reliable sources, the company is developing a new application dedicated exclusively to games, similar to the App Store, but with a complete focus on games.
This new game “store” will bring together the best of the App Store and Game Center in one place. It won’t replace Game Center, but it will be integrated with it, so users will be able to easily access their game profiles and see what their friends are playing.
On the other hand, it is known that the store will contain several tabs, such as “Play Now”, where users will find game recommendations and challenges, and leaderboards and achievements will also be included.
Apple also adds that it is also considering integrating FaceTime and iMessage into this new store to make communication between players much easier. There is also talk of allowing developers to offer mini-games based on App Clips.
In practice, this app will work in a very similar way to the Xbox app for iPhone, allowing players to see their status, their friends' activities, and search for new games.
It is still unclear when Apple will launch this new gaming app. It could arrive with a future iOS 18 update or perhaps as part of the iOS 19 launch. What is certain is that Apple has very strong intentions in this market and its idea is to bet heavily on the gaming world.
