The option to block this type of messages is used to block messages from unknown accounts. This means that the block is directed to WhatsApp accounts that have numbers that are not in your phonebook.

But WhatsApp also warns that it will not block all messages, but only when you receive several messages at the same time. For example, if my name is not in your contacts but I write to you, the message will reach you. However, if you receive several messages in a row from unknown accounts, the block will be applied to them.

Therefore, it is not very effective in blocking messages from strangers who are trying to scam you, because if it is just one individual message they sent you then the blocking will not work.

This protection is intended for spam attacks with fraudulent offers or with the aim of annoying you. In these cases, the block will be activated to protect you.

To enable this option, you must have the latest beta version of WhatsApp installed so that it starts reaching all users. Once it arrives, go to WhatsApp settings and click on the privacy section that will appear inside.
