This is the new action button feature in iOS 18 that almost no one is talking about

All iPhone 16 models are rumored to feature an Action Button , a new button that lets you perform various actions, such as turning on the flashlight, opening the camera, putting the iPhone on silent mode, or performing shortcuts. In iOS 18, this button will go one step further, allowing you to perform Control Center actions.

This is probably one of the new features of iOS 18 that hasn’t been talked about much, but when the release is official for everyone, iPhones with an Action Button will be able to perform actions like activating Airplane Mode, cellular data, or Bluetooth connection, simply by pressing the said button. But that’s not all. Below, I explain it to you in detail.

Although the Action button is difficult to get used to at first, once you do, it becomes an essential tool in your daily life. For example, I configured it on my iPhone to activate or deactivate Focus Mode, specifically to avoid interruptions, which came with Apple Intelligence.

However, when iOS 18 becomes official, I will change this setting for another action, specifically one of the apps I use a lot. Third-party apps can also be present in Control Center, which means that thanks to this new feature, they can be assigned to the action button.

For example, there are several apps I currently use that can be added in beta to the Control Center. But not only that, the action they perform can be assigned to the action button. One of them is Carrot Weather, with which you can see the current weather by pressing the button.

But, as I mentioned, not only app actions can be set, but also Control Center controls to perform tasks like opening the calculator or controlling cellular data. Specifically, these are all the actions that will be available thanks to iOS 18:

- Calculator.

- Chronometer.

 - Alarm clock.

- HomeKit.

- Timer.

- Dark mode.

- Scan QR code.

- Airplane mode.

-- Mobile data.

- Personal access point.

- Take a quick note.

-Remote control.

- Open the wallet app.

- Locate my Apple Watch.
