This is the first official image created by Apple's AI, Apple Intelligence.
Image Playground is one of the Apple Intelligence features we won't see until the end of the year, along with other features like integration with ChatGPT or Genmoji.
With Image Playground, you can create images from user-provided descriptions, and we already have the first official image created using this tool.
We don’t see this first official image created by Apple Intelligence on Apple’s website, but on WIRED . A rather unusual promotion, as perhaps the right place is in the section where Apple Intelligence features are presented, which will be expanded in the coming weeks with Visual Intelligence. With a single tap of the camera control button, users get quick access to additional information about their surroundings.
The image in question has a very special protagonist: Billy, the dog of the company’s vice president of software, Craig Federighi. As he explains in WIRED, he was inspired to create the image by a recent photo taken of himself for his birthday. As a prompt, he used a text asking Apple Intelligence to take a photo similar to the original.
The first official image created with Image Playground appears to have been created in a cartoonish style. Of course, we don't know how good the result is, as the original image hasn't been shared, so we don't know if the resemblance is real.
Image Playground will be a tool that will allow you to create images in different styles, from cartoons to drawings. On the other hand, Genmoji, another Apple Intelligence feature that relies on, will be able to create emojis from descriptions provided by users. But, as mentioned, it won't be available until the end of the year.
