This iOS 18 Feature Will Warn You If You're Using a Slow Charger on Your iPhone

As you have already read in almost all media, Apple has launched iOS 18 together with the Apple 16 series, and the truth is that apart from all the expected functions, in addition to the arrival of Apple Intelligence , it brings more surprises.

Among all the new features, there’s one that’s getting people talking: Your Apple device will now warn you if you’re using a slow charger. The feature, discovered by 9to5Mac and confirmed by a Reddit user, changes the way Apple displays charging information.

Now, if you plug in a trickle charger, you'll see the battery graph turn orange. If you're using a fast charger, everything will stay green, as always.

If you open the battery menu while charging, you’ll encounter a warning message about a slow charger. While Apple hasn’t officially stated what they consider “slow,” it seems like a 5W charger does fall into that category, and it makes sense, considering the iPhone 16 can charge at speeds of up to 45W.

Continuing on the subject of battery specifically, there’s another great point to mention. With iOS 18, you’ll also have more control over your battery’s health. You can now set your battery to 85%, 90%, or 95%, in addition to the already existing 80%.

Logically, while this will also benefit you as a user, it’s all part of Apple’s broader strategy. They want your iPhone to last longer and perform better, and to do that they need you to take good care of it.
