Snapchat Gives My AI Chatbot New Features

Snapchat Gives My AI Chatbot New Features

At its annual Snap Partners Conference, Snapchat announced a series of new AI features coming to its app.

The My AI chatbot has received an update that allows it to work in a way similar to Google Lens, as the chatbot can now respond to complex shots.

You can now take a picture of a menu in a foreign language and send it to My AI to get an English translation, for example. Additionally, you can take a picture of a plant and send it to the chatbot to learn its name.

You can also take a picture of a parking sign and send it to the chatbot to understand if you can park your car in a certain spot.

Mobile users first got similar benefits with Google Lens.

The launch is another indication that Snapchat is looking to make the My AI chatbot more useful, rather than just an entertainment feature.

A few months ago, Snapchat introduced the ability for users to set reminders and countdowns within the app through My AI.

The new features add useful functionality to the AI chatbot, as the platform tries to nudge users to open its social app when they have certain search queries.

In addition to the My AI updates, Snapchat announced that My Selfie now supports AI-powered editing in Memories (Saved Snaps) for Snapchat+ subscribers.

This feature is used to bring your existing shots to life by adding comments and lenses to the shots stored in the Memories archive.

Additionally, you can now choose to appear in AI-generated photos alongside your friends.

For example, the app might generate an AI image of you and your friend as lawyers or Olympic swimmers.

Snapchat also announced the launch of an AI lens that allows users to see what they might look like in the future. The launch appears to be Snapchat’s response to TikTok’s popular aging filter.

Snapchat revealed that it is rolling out improved HD video calling and Snap Mail, which lets you leave a snap for your friend if they don't answer your call.

The platform is also starting to display local time zones in chats to make it easier for people to know when they can connect with friends around the world.
