OpenAI Announces New Voices for ChatGPT, Even the Ability to Bark

ChatGPT, OpenAI’s chatbot, is about to receive an update that will significantly improve its voice capabilities. So far, users can choose from four different voices, but eight more will be added soon, bringing the total to twelve.

The newly discovered voices have strange names like Fathom, Glimmer, Harp, Maple, Orbit, Rainbow, Reef, Ridge, and Vale. Of course, they're not available to the public yet, but it seems likely that these voices will also be able to mimic non-verbal sounds, like a dog barking.

Leaving that aside, one of the most interesting things about these new voices is that they will be able to change their tone depending on the text format. For example, they will be able to express their emotions very accurately when reading bold or italic text. This means that ChatGPT’s responses will sound less robotic and more human.

In addition to the new voices, this update is expected to include other improvements, such as the ability to translate in real time between different languages and create sound effects while telling you a story.

The idea in the end is that conversations with the chatbot are more entertaining and dynamic and that this functionality is eventually used by users more.
