Nvidia launches DLSS 3.5 with major improvements at Gamescom 23, Half-Life 2 RTX coming soon
During Gamescom 23, Nvidia launches DLSS 3.5, the next generation of its AI-powered technology to improve the gaming experience on devices and increase frame rates while maintaining graphics quality and game clarity, by introducing a new feature called Ray Reconstruction that improves the Ray Tracing experience as well. What did Nvidia launch? Let's talk a little about everything new about DLSS 3.5 and Gamescom 23 launches.
Nvidia DLSS 3.5 to be released at Gamescom 23
DLSS, the AI-powered gaming experience enhancement technology, is getting an update to version 3.5, which brings major improvements to the tool.
NVIDIA has introduced a new technology called Ray Constructing, which improves ray-traced images on all GeForce RTX cards by replacing the manually optimized noise reduction tools with a special NVIDIA network, specifically the AI network managed by its Supercomputer, which generates high-quality pixels between the rays created in the game. NVIDIA has also announced the first games that will support this technology.
Supportive games
- Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27th with full support for DLSS 3.5, full support for ray tracing, and the Nvidia Reflex feature.
- Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty are coming in September with DLSS 3.5, Ray tracing, and Reflex support
- Portal Reflex will get its update this fall
- The technology will be released to support GeForce Now, so when Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty are released on the cloud gaming platform, players will be able to play them with this technology.
In addition to games, DLSS 3.5 technology improves image quality in 3D design applications, and the Ray Reconstruction feature will be released with the upcoming releases of D5 Render, Chaos Vantage, and Nvidia Omiverse technologies as well.

Half-Life 2 RTX Game
At Gamescom 2023, Nvidia announced the Half-Life 2 RTX project, which aims to reprogram the game and add RTX support to it via an early version of the RTX Remix application, which is used to reprogram any game and add ray tracing support to the game easily, making it easier for modders to modify games and provide them with the latest additions and capabilities.
With RTX Remix, modders rebuild game components using physical-based rendering (PBR), adding new details via Valve’s proprietary mod software, and leveraging NVIDIA’s Ray Tracing, DLSS 3, Reflex, and RTX IO technologies to deliver an amazing gaming experience for GeForce RTX users. You can check out the trailer for this project in this video.
There is no official release date yet, the community has started developing Half-life 2 RTX and it is still in the beginning and 4 developers are collaborating together, and they are discussing inviting the rest of the community together in order to complete this project, and Nvidia encourages all developers to join Orbifold Studios in order to create and complete this large project.
Nvidia Ace Adds Emotion to NPC AI with NeMo SteerLM
Nvidia ACE is an AI-based model that aims to add intelligence to non-player characters (NPCs) through AI-powered interactions and natural language. With ACE, NPCs can be transformed into interactive characters that can interact, have conversations, and have local knowledge of their surroundings, which can lead to new tasks in the game.
At COMPUTEX 2023, Nvidia showed off the Kairos game, a modified version of ACE, featuring Jin, the ramen shop owner, who was brought to life using Unreal Engine 5 and running RTX. Over the next few months, Nvidia has been working on developing Ace.
Nvidia's latest update is the inclusion of Nvidia NeMo SteerLM, a new technology that allows developers to customize NPCs to modify their personality traits for interactions with more real and emotional emotions that are memorable and characters will remember what they did.
Most LLM (Large Language Model) language models are designed to provide perfect language responses devoid of any personality or any emotion, and this is what can be observed when dealing with any chatbot. With SteerLM, language models are trained to provide responses that are appropriate to the specific situation of the conversation, ranging from sarcasm to creativity to toxic personality, all of which can be modified quickly through simple buttons.
