New Features and Changes Coming to iPhones in iOS 18.1 Update

Apple has released the fifth beta of iOS 18.1 to developers, and it includes several changes for iPhone users. There are improvements to Apple Intelligence features, upgrades to the camera control button options for iPhone 16 , and more.

What's new in iOS 18.1 beta 5?

Below we will mention the new features and changes that Apple added to the fifth beta version of iOS 18.1:

1- New modifications in the control center:

Apple has made additional changes to Control Center in iOS 18.1, with new dedicated connectivity buttons that can be added to Control Center, including a Wi-Fi button and a VPN button.

There's also a new option that can reset Control Center to the default layout, and this option can be found in the Settings app in the Control Center section.

2- Expanding RCS support: 

iOS 18.1 expands RCS support to a number of new carriers around the world, including:

  • Telenet company in Belgium.
  • Proximus company in Belgium.
  • BASE company in Belgium.
  • TracFone in the United States.
  • C Spire Company in the United States.

3- A new option to control the camera in iPhone 16 phones:

iPhone 16 users will notice a new option in the camera control button options after updating to iOS 18.1. The new option allows switching from the rear camera to the front camera using the camera control button.

4- New upgrade in iPhone Mirroring feature:

With iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, Apple added the drag-and-drop feature to transfer files between your iPhone and Mac when using iPhone Mirroring.

5- Modifications in some features of Apple Intelligence:

In the Notes app, there's a new button in the toolbar dedicated to quick access to AI-powered writing tools. Previously, writing tools could only be accessed by highlighting all of the text, then tapping the Writing Tools button in the pop-up menu.
