Kaspersky Launches Advanced Service to Assess Security of Industrial Systems in Saudi Arabia

Kaspersky has announced the launch of its Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security Assessment Service, setting a new standard for protecting critical industrial infrastructure in Saudi Arabia . The move comes to meet the growing need to protect critical industrial infrastructure from escalating cyber threats.

This launch also reflects Kaspersky’s commitment to leading the way in ICS cybersecurity , confirms its compliance with local security guidelines and regulations, and highlights its 15 years of leading expertise in operational technology and ICS security.

Advantages of Industrial Control Systems Security Assessment Service:

Kaspersky's ICS Security Assessment service is designed to scan and address vulnerabilities at every layer of ICS, from physical and network security, to vendor-specific vulnerabilities within ICS components, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA ) systems.

This assessment is based on a dedicated team of Kaspersky experts, who use the latest technologies and tools to uncover potential vulnerabilities and assess risks, providing customers with clear, actionable insights and a comprehensive understanding of their security posture.

Designed specifically for Security Operations Centers (SOCs), detailed reports provide an easy-to-follow path that includes timestamps, methods used, and personalized detection recommendations.

Current status of cybersecurity in Saudi Arabia:

The latest statistics from Kaspersky showed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in the field of cybersecurity, as the Kingdom topped the ranking of countries least exposed to attacks in the region during the second quarter of 2024, as exposure levels were significantly lower than the regional average.

However, sectors such as construction, oil and gas, and building automation have shown themselves to be at high risk, with the main threats related to unsafe employee behavior, especially those who try to access restricted internet resources from OT computers, exposing them to malicious scripts and phishing pages.

Statistics also indicate that the number of spyware has increased significantly over the past six months, underscoring the need for strong operational technology security measures.

Commenting on the announcement, Mohammed Hashim, General Manager at Kaspersky Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, said: “We are excited to bring our global expertise in operational technology and industrial control system security assessments to the region, in line with local standards. The Saudi team is well supported by Kaspersky’s established expertise, which I believe is a true testament to our commitment to supporting and investing in local talent. Our expansion not only sets new standards in industrial security, but also supports the Kingdom’s strategic vision for a secure and resilient industrial sector.”

Importance of the new service:

  • Enhancing Industrial Security: This service helps companies identify vulnerabilities in their industrial systems and take necessary actions to protect them.
  • Compliance with regulations: The service ensures compliance with local security regulations and international standards.
  • Supporting the Kingdom’s strategic vision: This service contributes to supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision for a safe and flexible industrial sector.
