24MP front camera for all iPhone 17 models
According to Apple supply chain analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu, all four iPhone 17 models will feature an upgraded 24MP front camera. In comparison, all four iPhone 16 models will feature a 12MP front camera.
48MP telephoto camera for iPhone 17 Pro Max and possibly iPhone 17 Pro
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to get an updated 48MP telephoto camera, compared to the 12MP telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro models. This change has not been ruled out for the iPhone 17 Pro either, but it may not make it to the smaller Pro model until the iPhone 18 Pro.
12GB RAM for iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to get 12GB of RAM exclusively, which will benefit Apple Intelligence and multitasking performance. The iPhone 16 Pro Max has 8GB of RAM.
Smaller Dynamic Island for iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is also rumored to get a “very narrow dynamic island,” as a result of hardware changes to the Face ID system.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are scheduled to launch in September 2025, so there's still plenty of time, and more details will emerge in the coming months.
iPhone 17 Air
There are rumors from several reliable sources that Apple is planning to release a new, much thinner iPhone 17 design, which could be called the iPhone 17 Air. There have been conflicting rumors about the design and specifications of this device, but most sources agree that it will have a screen size of around 6.6 inches. Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that he expects the device to be equipped with a standard A19 chip, a dynamic island, a single rear camera, and an Apple-designed 5G modem.
