iPhone 16 Pro Max vs Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Comparison

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is the largest and most advanced iPhone ever  with powerful specs, AI support, and fast, highly efficient performance thanks to Apple's all-new A18 Pro processor.

Apple wasn't the only company to launch a premium phone this year with powerful specs and AI support. Last month, Google launched the large Pixel 9 Pro XL, which has powerful specs, outstanding performance, AI support, and is a competitor to the new iPhone.

Both phones are sold at similar prices, and are characterized by their large size, excellent performance, professional cameras, and attractive design, but there are many differences between them, and we will explain the most prominent of them below:

1- The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a brighter screen than the iPhone:

The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a slightly larger screen than the Google phone, but the Pixel 9 Pro XL's screen is brighter than the iPhone's.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2868 x 1320 pixels and a brightness of 2000 nits.  The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch Super Actua OLED display with a resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels and a brightness of 3000 nits, which means it is brighter and sharper than the iPhone's display.

Both phones feature always-on display and support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

2- The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a new button to control the camera:

One of the most notable new features of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is the physical camera control button that allows you to easily launch the camera app without having to touch the screen. It can also be used to take photos, record videos, adjust focus, zoom in and out, and  activate Apple's new visual intelligence feature, similar to Google Lens.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max features a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom support. It can record 4K video at 120fps.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera with up to 5x optical zoom. The Google phone can record 8K video at up to 30fps and 4K at 60fps.

4- iPhone 16 Pro Max is powered by the super-powerful A18 Pro processor:

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is powered by the A18 Pro processor, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL is powered by Google's latest Tensor G4 processor. In terms of performance, Apple has outperformed competitors like Google and Samsung in recent years with their Pro processors for the Pro iPhones, and that's the case this year with the A18 Pro, which excelled in the Geekbench 6 tests. The A18 Pro's processor outperformed the Tensor G4 processor in the  Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Both processors can run a wide range of AI features, with Google offering a lot of AI features in its new phone, most notably:

  • AI photo and video editing features, such as: Zoom Enhance, Add Me, and Magic Editor.
  • Pixel Studio image creation tool.
  • Call Assist feature to summarize phone calls.
  • Circle to Search feature.
  • Gemini's built-in robot replaces Google Assistant.

Apple also announced a set of artificial intelligence tools that will arrive on its new phones in upcoming operating system updates, the most prominent of which are: writing tools and summary tools in the Notes app, the ability to create images with artificial intelligence using Image Playground and create Genmoji emojis, in addition to the improved Siri voice assistant powered by ChatGPT.

5- Pixel 9 Pro XL outperforms iPhone in charging speed:

Apple and Google have improved the charging speed of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pixel 9 Pro XL, both of which offer faster charging than previous models.

However, the Pixel 9 Pro XL out-charges the iPhone, reaching 70% in 30 minutes with a 45W charger, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max can reach 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W charger.

When it comes to wireless charging, the iPhone has the edge over Google's phone; the iPhone's MagSafe charger can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes when using a 30W charger.

6- Price:

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is now available for pre-order and will be available in stores on September 20. This phone is sold at a price starting at $ 1,200 , while the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is sold at a price starting at $ 1,099 .
