Huawei's new HarmonyOS NEXT system exceeds 10 thousand applications
Huawei has revealed that the number of apps for its HarmonyOS NEXT operating system has exceeded 10,000, the company said at its Huawei Connect 2024 event .
The Chinese company reported that over the past months, more than 10,000 native apps compatible with the new HarmonyOS NEXT system have been launched, and these apps feature smarter and more efficient features than before.
These new applications are an alternative to the Android applications that the system previously supported before the company announced its intention to end support for those applications, and to replace them with original applications designed specifically for the new system.
Huawei indicated that the applications cover 18 different fields, and therefore, they meet users' needs by 99.9% of daily usage time, according to the company.
Users can easily rely on these apps for daily use, as Huawei claims that the native apps of HarmonyOS provide high display quality, fast transitions, the ability to complete tasks very smoothly, and other advantages.
The company said it has provided more than 470 software development kits (SDKs) for HarmonyOS NEXT, reducing the burden of application development by 90%, and the new system provides a comprehensive development environment that contributes to the creation of more productive applications.
Huawei aims to completely abandon the use of Android in its devices and products with its new system. The company has removed all codes related to Android from the new operating system, so that it is now a fully integrated and self-developed system within the company in China. It is a system based on a special kernel developed by Huawei so that the application works in complete compatibility across its various devices.
Huawei has also collaborated with many partners and developers to build these applications in the fields of education, health, office work, games, entertainment and many other fields.
The number of HarmonyOS NEXT apps is growing significantly, as the company had expected to develop 5,000 native apps early this year, but the number has already doubled before the official launch of HarmonyOS NEXT. The company is expected to reveal more details related to the system in the coming days.
