Huawei unveils Watch D2 to measure blood pressure
Huawei has announced its new smartwatch, the Huawei Watch D2, which can measure blood pressure via a strap that contains a built-in micro-pump.
Huawei explained that the Watch D2 is superior to its predecessor, as in addition to the elegant design, it supports the ambulatory blood pressure monitoring system (ABPM) to provide continuous coverage throughout the day.
The watch has an inflatable bracelet that works in the same way as well-known blood pressure monitors, providing more accurate measurements than watches that rely on optical sensors. The watch has received regulatory approval in Europe and China.
The Huawei Watch D2 measures blood pressure by inflating the bracelet at regular intervals throughout the day and night to ensure accurate blood pressure monitoring. In addition, the watch has an optical heart rate sensor, which consumes less power and does not require pressure on the wrist like an inflatable bracelet does.
Thanks to this system, the watch provides weekly reports on blood pressure and allows users to see the impact of different activities on their pressure levels. However, to accurately measure blood pressure, the wrist must be at heart level.
The Watch D2 comes with a 1.82-inch screen, in addition to a built-in GPS unit, and Huawei's new TruSense sensor for analyzing sports activities and psychological state, which is the same sensor used in the new Watch GT 5 and GT 5 Pro. The watch can also monitor skin temperature and perform an electrocardiogram (ECG).
Huawei is selling its Watch D2 smartwatch at the same price as the previous version, offering it at a price of 400 euros.
