Google Maps Will Warn You If a Business Has Fake Reviews
Google has decided to put an end to fake reviews on Google Maps. Over the past few years, the app has seen an unprecedented growth in reviews that are not true. To stop this, Google has decided to provide users with information about businesses that have fake reviews.
Until now, fake reviews have been combated by a system where both users and administrators of these establishments can report reviews they consider fraudulent within the app. These reviews usually come from angry users who convince their circle of family and friends to also join in the practice and leave negative reviews.
Of course, this isn’t always the case, and sometimes a bad review is synonymous with a bad service and experience. Regardless, Google Maps now has a series of proposals to deal with fake reviews. This change has been seen in the UK, although it looks like it will be a global thing.
Google Maps’ new proposal includes introducing a series of special features in businesses. These new elements will provide direct information to users indicating that the business they are consulting has received fake reviews.

But that's not all, fake reviews posted on the said establishment will almost automatically be deleted by Google.
It seems that Google is getting serious about the abuse of reviews on Google Maps. Now we just have to wait until all these new features are rolled out globally and users can start encountering these notifications telling them about fake reviews.
While the move may seem small, it is likely to be the biggest step forward in the fight against fake ratings in companies. And it is likely that these measures will be the beginning of more.
