Even if you're browsing in incognito mode, here's how to see which websites someone is visiting on their computer
There are many users who believe that by activating the incognito mode in their browser, they are completely protected, but nothing could be further from the truth. In practice, the only function it offers us is not to store the websites we have visited in the history. We are less protected if we use a browser like Chrome, because it has proven on multiple occasions to be one of the browsers that puts our privacy the most on the Internet.
However, even if we delete our browsing history, or enter incognito mode so that the browser does not store the websites we visit, Google says: Our team is responsible for collecting DNS information every time your computer interacts with a network server, and therefore, it is possible to know which web pages we have visited even if we enter incognito mode.
- How to see the history of all websites you visited from incognito mode
To find out, we just need to open a window in our operating system. In Windows, we can do this through CMD (Command Prompt). To do this, simply launch CMD and type the following command:
ipconfig/displaydns
Once you type the command and press, the system will show us a list of all the DNS servers that the computer has recently contacted to exchange information.
Basically, what we see in the list belongs to the stored DNS cache. When we access a website, the system first checks if we have visited that website before. If yes, the stored configuration will be applied, otherwise it will contact the DNS server to get the information. The data is extracted from the "hosts" file on the computer and from the recently obtained resource records of DNS queries made by the system.
In this way, we can also find out which web pages were accessed through the browser's incognito mode. All we have to do is look at the link that appears in the first option "Registration Name". There will be times when we cannot identify the website, since the site's DNS server has a completely different domain.
