Apple's robot will be the next personal assistant
Apple Robot Will We Ever See This One Day? Apple reportedly has a team of hundreds of people working on a new product that attaches an iPad screen to a robotic arm that uses motors to rotate the screen up and down as well as rotate 360 degrees.
Potential Jobs for Apple Robot
The tabletop device could serve multiple purposes, allowing you to control your smart home, attend video conferences, monitor home security, and more. Gurman has reported on rumors about the company exploring home robots more than once over the past few months and now says the project is moving forward with Kevin Lynch, Apple’s VP of technology, at the helm. Sources tell Bloomberg that the company is targeting a launch in 2026 or 2027 and that it could be priced around $1,000.
Apple's alleged robot capabilities
The device is expected to be able to respond to commands using Siri or features within Apple Intelligence, such as “look at me,” which can rotate the screen to face the user during a video call. Apple is currently testing models running a “refined version” of iPadOS.
The move follows the cancellation of a rumored car project and the launch of the pricey Vision Pro earlier this year, and makes Apple the latest tech giant to dive into the world of home robots — remember Samsung’s Ballie ? Meanwhile, Amazon recently discontinued the commercial release of its Astro robot after rumors of a major generative AI upgrade on the way.
