Apple raises battery replacement fees for iPhone 16 Pro
Apple recently announced a new increase in out-of-warranty battery replacement fees for the new iPhone 16 Pro, according to the company's iPhone Repair and Service page.
Apple Stores are now charging $120 to replace the battery on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max , a 20% increase from the previous $100 fee for the iPhone 15 Pro.
This price includes the cost of a new battery and the same replacement service provided by Apple. It is worth noting that these prices may differ from other parties and independent repair centers that provide iPhone maintenance services.
In return, Apple will maintain the current $100 replacement fee for the basic iPhone 16, but users with AppleCare+ extended warranty will get a battery replacement at no additional charge, provided the battery capacity drops below 80% of its original capacity.
This price increase for the new Pro models appears to be related to the new battery technology that Apple is rumored to be using. According to the company, all iPhone 16 models come with an internal design that aims to enhance heat dissipation from the inside out, and these changes are intended to improve performance and increase the lifespan of the devices, especially with heavy use.
Recent reports indicate that Apple has made it easier to replace the battery of the iPhone 16 in compliance with new laws in the European Union.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first price increase for iPhone battery replacements; Apple previously raised the replacement fee from $70 to $99 starting with the iPhone 14 series, making it the second increase in a short period.
Apple also offers a battery replacement service for iPhone X and iPhone 11 and later for $90, while the same service is offered for iPhone SE and iPhone 8 and earlier for $70, or roughly the equivalent in local currencies in different countries.
Apple is currently offering iPhone 16 phones for pre-order , and they are expected to be launched in the markets starting next Friday.
