Apple officially introduces the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus Here are the most prominent improvements and main features

Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which come with several notable improvements in design, functionality, and performance. This new generation introduces changes that seek to provide a more flexible and advanced user experience, following Apple's strategy of making major improvements by alternating between its regular and Pro models every year.

- New buttons and better camera control

One big news is the inclusion of an Action Button and a Camera Shutter button on both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which were previously exclusive to the Pro models. The Action Button lets users set quick shortcuts, such as activating Do Not Disturb or starting a recording. The Camera Shutter button, on the other hand, is designed to mimic a traditional camera shutter release, detecting different levels of pressure to focus or take a photo. This addition is ideal for photography enthusiasts as it makes it easier to access and control camera functions.

- Improved performance with the A18 Bionic chip

Under the hood, iPhone  16 and  iPhone 16 Plus are powered   by the new 3nm A18 Bionic chip, which promises 30 percent faster performance than its predecessors. This chip includes a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for generative models, enhancing AI capabilities and enabling advanced features like editing and deleting objects from photos and enhancing Siri as a smarter, more natural assistant. Additionally, the GPU is 40 percent more powerful than the previous generation, delivering improved performance in graphics applications and video games.

- Updated cameras and advanced features

The new iPhone 16 camera has also received significant improvements. It now features a portrait lens design, with a 48MP main sensor and a new ultra-wide angle that performs better in low-light conditions and allows for macro mode. Although it does not include a telephoto lens, the main sensor is capable of delivering quality similar to that of 2x optical zoom. This setup allows you to capture spatial images that can be viewed on Apple Vision Pro devices, providing an unprecedented immersive experience.

- Improved presentation and layout

The iPhone 16 models maintain the same 6.1- and 6.7-inch sizes, respectively, but with some improvements to the OLED display that can now reach a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits and a minimum brightness of 1 nit in the dark. Additionally, the Ceramic Shield protective glass has been improved to be 50% more resistant to marks and scratches. However, the 60Hz refresh rate remains the same, which has been the subject of some criticism.

Apple Intelligence: A Revolution in Artificial Intelligence

The introduction of Apple Intelligence promises to change the way we interact with our devices. The technology, which will initially be available in English and will reach other languages in 2025, will allow advanced functions such as identifying objects using the camera, generating text in different colors, and making significant improvements to Siri. Users will be able to use the camera control button to activate this function, similar to Google Lens, and get additional information about whatever they point the camera at.

- Price and availability

The iPhone   16 will be  available for pre-order starting September 9, 2024, starting at $799 for the 128GB model, while  the iPhone 16 Plus  starts  at $899. Both models will be available on the market starting September 20, 2024.
