Apple Intelligence to be available in more languages than expected starting next year
Apple Intelligence is coming to more devices and locations in the coming months. Initially, it will be available only in US English, but more languages will be added gradually.
Expanding Apple Intelligence Availability
Apple announced during its “ glowtime ” presentation that it would add local English language support for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom in December, and then in 2025, Intelligence will get support for Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish. But, it doesn’t stop there. The list of supported languages has been expanded to include:
- Two new English language editions: India and Singapore.
- German, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese and other languages.
Restrictions on the availability of Apple Intelligence
It is important to note that Apple Intelligence will not be available on iPhone and iPad in the European Union and China, due to the laws and regulations of those regions.
However, there is an exception. The macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta has been released in the EU, and it does contain Apple Intelligence , which is probably because macOS is not classified as a “gatekeeper” under the Digital Markets Act, while iOS and iPadOS are.
Apple's efforts to expand the availability of Apple Intelligence
Apple is currently in talks with regulators in the European Union and China to discuss how Apple Intelligence will be implemented in these regions, and Apple is seeking solutions that comply with local laws and regulations and allow Apple Intelligence to be available in as many places as possible.
