Apple confirms the size of the random memory in iPhone 16 phones
Apple has announced that all versions of the iPhone 16 series will contain 8GB of RAM, according to a senior company executive.
John Srugoy, Apple's senior vice president of hardware and technologies, said in an interview ,On the hardware requirements to support new features: “Apple carefully analyzes the data to determine the hardware requirements needed for each feature.”
According to these statements, the basic iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will include 8GB of RAM, which is a major improvement for them, as previous versions of the iPhone 15 only had 6GB of RAM. As for the Pro versions, they originally included 8GB of RAM.
Srougui explained that the memory upgrade was necessary to support the advanced AI features in Apple devices. He pointed out that Apple relies on a lot of data to determine what is required to enable certain features, stressing that Apple Intelligence is one of the important features that prompted the company to increase the RAM, at least in the basic versions.
Most of Apple's AI features are expected to arrive with the upcoming iOS 18.1 update.
According to Srougui, Apple's generative AI features require a certain amount of RAM to operate efficiently and respond quickly.
It is worth noting that Apple has always been reluctant to officially disclose the amount of RAM in iPhones.
This move comes after companies like Google showed a need to allocate some memory for AI, as is the case with its Pixel 9 series of phones, which reserves dedicated memory for Gemini AI features.
