A quantum leap in quantum computing The Technology Innovation Institute launches the "Kibo" platform
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a global scientific research center and applied research pillar of the Advanced Technology Research Council in Abu Dhabi, has launched Qibo , an open-source platform specializing in quantum computing, developed by a team from the Institute’s Quantum Research Center in collaboration with a group of researchers from around the world.
Kibo is a powerful and easy-to-use tool for conducting quantum simulation activities, allowing its users to operate quantum computers and other quantum devices through simple Python code.
The platform supports both classical and quantum algorithms, making it an easy and reliable tool for quantum programming and research, as well as a wide range of applications. It is also compatible with many commercially available quantum control systems and other open source systems, and can adapt to various experimental environments such as superconducting qubits.
The platform's operating software is flexible and versatile, providing 3 models dedicated to quantum simulation, whether for classical devices, quantum control systems, or calibration, making it a valuable tool for researchers, scientists, and students in various sectors such as: the financial sector, artificial intelligence , quantum chemistry, and engineering.
“The Kibo platform is at the forefront of innovation in quantum computing and is designed to support its users, including students, professionals and researchers, in the field of applied quantum computing,” said Professor José Ignacio Latorre, Senior Researcher at the Quantum Research Center at the Technology Innovation Institute.
It is worth noting that the Kibo platform was developed by 45 researchers from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with the support of the National Centre for Quantum Computing in Singapore, the National Institute for Quantum Science and Technology in Italy, the Quantum Centre in Spain and the CERN Laboratory.
“The Kibo platform represents a quantum leap in efforts to make quantum computing technology available to researchers and developers around the world, and is capable of driving innovation efforts in broad and diverse fields such as cryptography and materials science,” said Dr. Najwa Al Araj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute.
The Kibo platform is a remarkable scientific and technological achievement, opening up new horizons in the field of quantum computing, and making this advanced technology accessible to more researchers and developers around the world. This platform is expected to contribute to accelerating the pace of progress in many fields.
It is worth noting that the Technology Innovation Institute will host a group of scientists, senior researchers and global experts in the field of quantum technology at the distinguished (Quantum Technology Symposium), which will be held in the UAE capital next January. This symposium comes as a confirmation of the UAE’s commitment to driving innovation and enhancing its position as a leading center for advanced scientific research.
