YouTube launches AI tool to help recover stolen channels

YouTube seems to have heard the complaints of content creators on its platform. Throughout YouTube’s existence, these people’s personal channels have been under constant threat and cybercriminals are looking to take over these accounts that have thousands and millions of subscribers. Losing a YouTube account is a common occurrence, but now it will be much easier to recover it thanks to the AI-powered chatbot launched by YouTube.

Google has announced on the official YouTube blog a tool that aims to make it easier to recover these personal channels. Yes, users with hacked YouTube accounts will have a dedicated wizard that will guide them through the entire recovery process. This tool can be found on YouTube’s support center.

The Verge gained access to the new chatbot and was able to verify that the service is currently only available in English. This is the first barrier for anyone who doesn’t speak the language.

Although this is expected to be the only hurdle, the reality is quite different, and at the moment, the YouTube tool is only available to a small group of content creators on the platform. Of course, Google indicates that it is expected that over time it will be released to the rest of the content creators.

The idea behind this chatbot is clear, to provide assistance to content creators. Now we will have to wait for its implementation before we can form an opinion about it, as it is currently a very interesting initiative. Until now, content creators who lost their personal channels have not received direct assistance from YouTube.

In fact, the help was limited to channels with large numbers of subscribers where they could speak directly with a YouTube representative. This time, the company is committed to providing a series of tools and steps to all content creators, although its reach is limited at the moment.
