With the upcoming iOS 18, you can remove Safari, the Camera app, and even the App Store from your iPhone
iOS 18 is set to hit the road with the new iPhone 16, promising several important new features on all compatible devices. Users in the European Union will get several additional features as part of compliance with the Digital Markets Act. Among the many options is the option to remove pre-installed apps such as Safari, Photos, Camera, and Messages, as well as the App Store.
This is a significant change, as for the first time Apple will allow you to remove a large portion of “core apps” from its operating systems. It’s worth noting that this option won’t be exclusive to iOS 18, and will be available in iPadOS 18 to provide a similar capability on iPads.
Users who decide to delete the affected apps from their iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 18 will be able to reinstall them from the App Store. And what happens to those who choose to remove the official App Store? Apple will allow you to reinstall it from the device’s settings.
And that won’t be the only major change iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will bring to app management in Europe. The operating systems will integrate a new section called Default Apps in Settings, so users can configure which apps they want to use by default.
