Windows 11 Upgrade Requirements Why Does Microsoft Want You to Buy a New PC?

As you well know, Windows 11 introduced stricter requirements for upgrading to the operating system, especially regarding TPM 2.0 support and newer processors. This left many computers that were working perfectly fine.

Initially, there were ways to install Windows  11  on unsupported devices , bypassing the verification process during installation. However, Microsoft has been gradually closing these loopholes, ending the opportunity to update for many.

The big problem is that with the clock ticking as Windows 10's end of support approaches in October 2025, many users will surely be tempted to force install Windows 11 on incompatible PCs to continue receiving updates.

This is something that Microsoft knows, as you’ve already seen, is trying to stop and is fighting to prevent Windows 11 from being used on devices that don’t meet the requirements. This is its strategy.

With Windows 10 support set to end in 2025, the situation is becoming more dire.

There could be several factors behind Microsoft’s resistance to allowing incompatible installations. On the one hand, the company could be genuinely concerned about the security of its users, and wants to make sure everyone is running on hardware that meets its standards. However, one can’t ignore the possibility that Microsoft is also promoting a business strategy to encourage the sale of new PCs. Pushing users to upgrade to Windows 11 could be a way to ensure that more people adopt the new operating system, and therefore new devices that support it.

Another factor that is likely to have an impact is the arrival of the new “PC Copilot.” These devices are designed to take advantage of the potential of artificial intelligence and provide better tools that older devices don’t have.

Microsoft is clearly betting on AI as one of its key future strategies, and integrating these technologies into new PCs could be a draw for users that the company doesn’t want to miss out on due to incompatible PCs. Whatever the reason or strategy behind it, it’s certainly going to be almost impossible to skip the requirements.
