Windows 11 receives important new features in the taskbar
Today Microsoft released the Windows 11 update with the KB5041872 version number, with patches on the emoji panel and some new aesthetics and the use of the taskbar.
This update, also called Preview Build 26120.1542, paves the way for the big Windows 11 24H2 update, which will arrive at the end of the year.
It has some aesthetic changes that will be part of this major and controversial update. Controversial, because it will delete some apps and services, including support for WordPad or Windows Mixed Reality.
According to Windows Report, one of the most obvious changes in this Windows 11 update is moving access to widgets to a new location on left-aligned taskbars, making access to that content more personalized. It will also be more troublesome for those who do not use tools.
Another more interesting feature is that the taskbar now supports keyboard shortcuts. If you have multiple apps open and want to access one quickly, simply tap the first letter of its name on your keyboard.
For example, if you want to open a Google Chrome window, press the C key, and you will be able to quickly access the browser.
As usual with almost all updates, KB5041872 also includes some bug fixes. The most important thing is that the emoji panel is now working properly.
Fixed fixes for some keyboard issues and errors in Registry Editor have also been added. You can see all the changes and news on the Microsoft blog.
Keep in mind that this Windows 11 update, which fixes the emoji panel and adds new features to the taskbar, is only available in the Canary channel. It will take a few weeks to reach users, and some of these changes may be canceled if they don't convince beta testers.
