Over the past month, WhatsApp has not stopped improving its messaging platform with interesting developments such as the integration of MetaI, the company's chatbot led by Mark Zuckerberg, or the arrival of its own AI-powered sticker maker, also integrated with GIPHY .

But these aren't the only improvements coming to the Meta-owned messaging client soon, as we just learned that WhatsApp is working on a feature that aims to put an end to spam for good, as it will allow you to block messages from unknown numbers.

WABetaInfo has discovered in the latest beta version 2.24.17.24 of WhatsApp for Android that the messaging service is implementing a new privacy function thanks to which you will be able to block messages from numbers that you have not saved in your contact book.

As you can see in the screenshot we leave you below, WhatsApp is working on a new list of advanced security features that includes an option that will allow you to block receiving messages from user accounts you don't know.

Thus, as explained in the description of this new security option, once activated, WhatsApp will automatically block messages from unknown numbers if they exceed a certain size, protecting the user from unwanted or potentially malicious messages.

In addition, this new WhatsApp feature will also improve the performance of the messaging app, as receiving fewer spam messages will significantly reduce the amount of data it has to process.

Blocking messages from unknown numbers is now available for WhatsApp Beta testers for Android and is expected to reach other users in a future update.
