smartphone smarter than you can imagine | Try it and you will not regret it
A very special and wonderful application that will make your smartphone smarter than you can imagine | Try it and you will not regret it
Although there are many applications in the Google Play Store, which exceed two million applications, but the useful applications are not very many, and today we will talk about one of the distinctive and very useful applications due to the unlimited features that it provides to users, and you will discover after downloading this application that your smartphone has turned into a “smarter” phone and works on your behalf, all this and more you will get through the more than wonderful IFTTT application, which is available for free through the Google Play Store.
First of all, IFTTT is not just a phone app, and it only aims to automate tasks related to the phone specifically, but it can also be used as an integrated service whether via the web or via the phone, and the application allows the use of simple phrases to link between different services in order to achieve a specific goal. Such as uploading a copy of your photos that you publish on Instagram to Dropbox, and the application also provides some ready-made recipes, in addition to providing the ability to “cook” your own recipes easily.
You must first install the application and after running it for the first time, you will have to create a new account where you will then go to the main page that starts blank before you add recipes to it. The application provides you with some things that you can use to build a new recipe from it, and since you are using the Android version of the application, it displays recipes that allow automation according to the phone's status through options related to the battery, geographic location, incoming calls, and more.
As we mentioned, dear reader, you are not limited to the ready-made suggestions provided by the program, but you can create your own recipes from scratch and we will explain this through a practical application. We will take the SMS as an example and imagine that you want to create a new recipe that converts incoming text messages to your phone from a specific number and sends them to your email.
Click on Create a New Recipe at the bottom of the page and you will be taken to the following screen:
First you need to click on the blue icon which represents the first or main event that the recipe is based on. Click on it and choose what you want. For this example we will choose Android SMS:
A page will appear for you to choose the Trigger, which is the event that will run the recipe. The options available for messages include things like: message received, message sent, new message received with a specific phrase, new message received from a specific number, etc.
Click on New SMS received from phone number:
Enter the phone number whose messages you want to forward to your email:
Click Next and you will see a screen that allows you to choose the purpose of the recipe, i.e. what you want to happen when you receive an SMS message from the specified number:
Tap the orange + sign, and you’ll be presented with the next page where you can select the result. The result could be an internal command on your phone, such as forwarding the message to another number or playing a specific song when the message arrives, or it could be an online service, such as saving the message to Evernote or sending it via email. There are hundreds of options available for you to search through.
For our example, we’ll tap Email, then Send me an email:
On the next screen you can edit the email text as you like in terms of subject and details. Once finished, the recipe will be ready to go and the messages received from the number you specified will be forwarded to your email address registered in the application.
This was just a simple explanation of how to get started with this wonderful service. Now you can unleash your imagination and use the application to do strange and crazy things maybe, let's see what you did with this special application in the comments.
This was today's post, hoping to meet in new posts, God willing.
