ChatGPT, which launched in 2022, can generate human-like responses based on user input and has 200 million weekly active users, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in November.

OpenAI said 92% of Fortune 500 companies use its products and that use of its machine learning application programming interface, or API, which allows programs to talk to each other, has doubled since the launch of ChatGPT-4o mini in July.

GPT-4o mini is a small, cost-effective model of AI, aiming to make its technology more affordable and power-efficient, allowing the startup to target a wider range of customers.

ChatGPT has boosted the popularity of artificial intelligence and led to a huge surge in the valuation of San Francisco-based OpenAI.

On the other hand, AI companies OpenAI and Anthropic have signed agreements with the US government to research, test and evaluate their AI models, according to the US AI Security Institute.

Apple and Nvidia are reportedly in talks to invest in OpenAI as part of a new fundraising round, and OpenAI backer Microsoft is also expected to invest in the company, according to reports.
