OnePlus' new AI feature upsets users
OnePlus has angered many users by launching a new batch of OnePlus AI feature updates over the weekend. The new AI toolkit sounds very handy, but unfortunately it is currently limited to the OnePlus Nord 4 and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G in some geographies.
What is OnePlus AI?
A member of the OnePlus software team explained in a post on the OnePlus Community the three aspects of the AI toolkit, which include AI speech and summarization features to help users read content on browsers and news apps , as well as AI writing to help them craft texts for reviews, emails, and social media posts.

But what particularly caught the eye in the supported devices and regions section at the end of the post was the comments section, where there was a general sense of frustration that the company wasn't rolling out AI features to its flagship phones first, like the OnePlus 12.
This decision goes against the grain of most smartphone makers, which tend to prioritize flagship owners over the latest upgrades, and will be particularly frustrating for OnePlus fans in the US, where select Nord phones are not available. Some OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G owners may also be wondering why India is the only region where the AI toolkit is available for this device. It can be inferred that these phones are only being used to test AI features before a wider launch, which could be in a month or two. However, the lack of clarity on this point was another source of protest in the comments.
