Here's What We Know About the New Apple Watch Series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 16 next month, likely on September 10.

When that happens, the new watch will bring a variety of upgrades to the Apple Watch series , with larger screens, a more powerful chip, and other improvements pushing the new watch forward.

The most prominent features expected to be brought by the new watch are:

bigger screens

Apple has clearly noticed the excitement around the Apple Watch Ultra and its huge screen.

With this year's Apple Watch Series 10, it's taking the Ultra's success seriously and giving both new Series 10 models larger screens.

The new watches are expected to come in 45mm and 49mm screens. This means that the small Apple Watch will now be the same size as the large watch from last year, and the large watch will be the same size as the Apple Watch Ultra.

Making the smallest flagship model 45mm in size could alienate some customers who prefer smaller watches.

But it's unlikely that Apple would make such a shift without the data to back it up, and we'll have to wait and see what users have to say.

slimmer frame

Aside from the larger screens, another external change coming is that the Apple Watch is getting thinner.

We don't have dimensions yet, but reducing the thickness should alleviate some concerns about larger screens.

At current thickness, larger screens could result in a bulky watch, but a thinner body would help compensate for that extra bulk and create a more attractive design.

More powerful chip

The Apple Watch Series 10 will get a new chip, likely called the S10.

There's a good chance we'll see improvements to the Neural Engine in particular, laying the foundation for future AI capabilities.

New health sensors

Apple is always sure to be working on new health sensors for the Watch. This year’s two main sensors are expected to offer high blood pressure detection and sleep apnea detection.

However, recent reports have raised doubts about whether these features will be ready for the Series 10. If one or both are ready, they would make great additions to the current suite of health sensors.

Upgraded OLED display for energy efficiency

Apple is always aiming to improve its display technology, and with the Apple Watch Series 10 this trend will continue.

The new watch is expected to feature technology that increases the energy efficiency of the screen.

Apple could use this to boost display quality without sacrificing battery, or reduce the size of the Watch's battery while still offering the same battery life as last year, and use the extra space for other changes or to support the thinner case.
