Google Photos lets you block someone's face from memories
The feature of displaying old photos in the form of "memories" is one of the best features provided by the Google Photos application, but sometimes you may not want a specific person to appear in these memories, and now Google Photos is preparing to make it easier to hide someone's face from memories.
A new way to hide faces from Google Photos memories
Currently, the way to hide someone from memories in Google Photos is to go to the app's settings menu, then preferences > memories, and choose "Hide people and pets", this will lead to the possibility of hiding the person from appearing in Memories, Creatives and the search page, but none of the photos in which they appear will be deleted.
New feature in development
Now, in the latest version of Google Photos, it has been discovered that Google is working to expand this function, in Google Photos version 6.80, Android Authority enables to manually activate the feature to reveal its exact function.
This new option appears in a context menu when looking at the "face set" of a specific person It is much easier and more accessible compared to the current method, however it goes beyond just ease of access, the new option will also provide two options to hide the face. The first is the current option to hide the face from memories completely which is called "face block" in the new menu, while the other new option will be "show less", this will recognize the person's face and exclude their photos unless it is a group photo so if there are other people in the photo, Google Photos may display them in memory.
This new option seems to represent a good balance, although it is unclear how effective it is and what counts as a group image and what not.
Anyway, it seems very useful, the new setting is not yet available but since it works, it probably won't be far from appearing.
