Google Maps Offline is a New Feature in Wear OS Smartwatches
Google recently introduced its new smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 3, with a bunch of new features that will be available to users. Among these features, the ability to navigate using Google Maps offline stands out as one of the most exciting additions.
However, this feature isn't limited to the Pixel Watch 3. 9to5google reports that every Wear OS smartwatch will now get offline Google Maps support.
This feature is currently only available in the Google Maps beta, suggesting that all Wear OS watches will likely get offline Google Maps support in the near future.
If you’re a Google Maps beta user, you can start using Google Maps offline as soon as you install the beta. Once installed, you’ll see instructions on how to use offline mode when you first open the app. Offline maps on your phone will also be automatically downloaded to your watch, and you’ll see a new “Offline Maps” page in the Settings menu.
The report also adds that the app automatically downloads a map of your area to the watch, along with syncing offline maps already installed on the phone. However, this feature is not available to everyone yet, and it will be necessary to sign up for the Google Maps beta program to get this service until it is officially released.
