Goodbye Thieves: Your Android Phone Is Now More Secure Thanks to This AI Feature
Google wants to protect your mobile phone at all costs, which is why it has started implementing a new AI-powered theft detection feature that automatically locks your device if it detects suspicious movements.
To give you an idea of how it works, I used your smartphone's motion sensors, primarily the accelerometer and gyroscope, which detect the device's movements in three dimensions, to identify patterns associated with theft, such as a quick swipe followed by acceleration.
The AI-powered technology it includes has been trained on a large amount of data to recognize specific movement patterns that are often associated with theft. The feature will appear on your phone like this and should be enabled.
For example, a sharp jerk followed by rapid acceleration might indicate that someone has picked up the phone while running. If this type of movement is detected, the screen is immediately locked, preventing anyone from accessing your personal data.
However, it is worth noting that it is still in the testing phase, but it is expected that this feature will be expanded to include all Android devices running Android 10 or higher in the not-too-distant future, so millions of people in the world will be able to benefit from this feature.
In addition to theft detection, Google has introduced other security measures to protect your data that complement the previous one in a certain way, such as the ability to mark your mobile phone as lost, lock it remotely and create private spaces to hide apps that you don't want others to see.
