Find out the Wi-Fi password connected to your laptop, Android, and iPhone
If you are using a laptop, Android mobile or iPhone and you connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi password is saved on your device, and at any moment you can easily find out this password through some steps that we will explain in detail in this article. It is worth noting that throughout your use of the device, you have largely connected to several different Wi-Fi networks.
You may have connected to a Wi-Fi network in a cafe, hotel, library, etc., and Windows keeps the passwords for all these networks that you have connected to to make the process of connecting to them again easier.
Windows does not only record the names of the networks, but also all the information about them.
This is very useful. If you Forget from Windows Settings for a specific network that you were connected to and want to reconnect to it again but do not remember the password, you can view the password for all Wi-Fi networks saved on the device, or in other words, you will be able to know the Wi-Fi password that your device is connected to.
In general, in the following lines, we will review with you how to do this on any laptop, so that you can reconnect to the same network again without problems. We will also explain the method on Android mobile phones as well as iPhones.
1- How to know the Wi-Fi password connected to a laptop:
The explanation that we will mention allows you to know the passwords of the Wi-Fi networks that you have previously connected to without using external programs or tools, and thus you will be able to know the Wi-Fi password that the laptop is connected to in real time on the Internet. In order to be able to do this, we will use the CMD commands that will show you detailed information about each Wi-Fi network that has been connected to in the past on the device.
First, we will open the CMD command prompt with administrator privileges, as you can do this on Windows 10 or 11 by clicking on the search icon in the taskbar and typing the word CMD inside it, then right-click on the Command Prompt tool, then click on the Run as administrator option as in the following image to open the black window of the Command Prompt with administrator privileges.
In this black window, you will type or copy and paste the command “ netsh wlan show profiles ” and then press Enter to execute the command. You will then notice that all the Wi-Fi networks that you have connected to in the past appear under User profiles .
You will find each network with its own name as shown in the following image. In my case, I have only connected to three Wi-Fi networks since the last time I installed Windows on my laptop, and after that the system started to save any network I connected to.
Anyway, what we need from the previous command is only to know the name of the Wi-Fi network for which you want to know the password. After you know it, use the following command:
netsh wlan show profile name="Profile-Name" key=clear
But before executing the previous command, there is a modification that you must make first, which is replacing “ Profile Name ” with the name of the Wi-Fi network that you are connected to and want to know the password for, which you can find out through the previous command as we mentioned. Once you have completed this modification, paste the command and press the Enter button, to display detailed information about this network. If we look at what is below Security settings , we will find in front of Key Content the password of the Wi-Fi that the laptop is connected to and saved on the device.
If you want to know the password for any Wi-Fi network you have previously connected to on your laptop, repeat the same previous steps but make sure to replace Profile Name with the name of the Wi-Fi network whose password you want to know, and so on. This way you can reconnect to the same network again after you remember the password.
2- Knowing the password of the connected Wi-Fi from the Android mobile:
Above, we explained the method for laptops, but if you want to know the Wi-Fi password connected to an Android mobile, follow the following lines, knowing that we will explain the method on Samsung phones.
First for modern Samsung phones with One UI 6:
Samsung's One UI 6 update comes with a great feature that allows you to know the Wi-Fi password that your phone is connected to directly from the phone settings. First, we will go to the phone's Settings, then we will go to Connections, then we will go to Wi-Fi. Then, next to the Wi-Fi network that you are connected to and want to know the password for, we will click on the gear icon next to it. Then we will click on the password as in the following image, where the password for the connected Wi-Fi network will appear.
Secondly, knowing the Wi-Fi password from the QR Code:
This method works for all Android phones, whether new or old, and we will apply the explanation to Samsung phones.
The idea here is that each Wi-Fi network that your phone is connected to has a quick response code or QR Code, and this code contains the password for this network. In general, to access this code, we will press and hold the Wi-Fi icon until the settings page opens, then we will click on the gear sign next to the name of the Wi-Fi network that the phone is connected to, as shown in the following image.
After that, we will click on the QR Code at the bottom so that the response code for the Wi-Fi network is generated, as it will appear to you on the next page. At the bottom, you will find an option to save the QR Code as an image on the phone as shown, and all you have to do is click on this option, and if it is not there, take a screenshot of the phone screen so that you take a picture of the QR Code.
Now, install the QR & Barcode Reader application on your phone, as it is one of the great applications for reading QR Code. After installing it on your phone, insert the image that you saved on the phone, as it will analyze it and give you the password for the Wi-Fi that your Android phone is connected to.
3- Knowing the Wi-Fi password connected to the iPhone:
All iPhones running iOS 16 have made it easy to know the Wi-Fi password you are connected to through the settings page only. First, we will go to the iPhone Settings, then click on the Wi-Fi option, then next to the name of the connected Wi-Fi network, click on the “i” sign as shown in the picture.
