The proliferation of Android smartphones has led hackers to redouble their efforts to design malicious applications that can “infiltrate” these devices in order to monitor the user’s daily activity and steal their most private data, such as passwords for various services such as banking platforms.

Day after day, new threats keep appearing on your Android mobile phone and a good proof of that is that after alerting you about a new banking trojan called BingoMod that can steal you and wipe your entire mobile phone, we now come to warn you about a dangerous Android application that is capable of stealing all your data by recording your device screen without permission.

As revealed by British media outlet The Sun, several cybersecurity experts have recently discovered a new malicious Android app called LianSpy that monitors all your activities while using your smartphone, allowing it to intercept your call logs, collect information from the apps you install and even record your mobile screen without your permission.

As the above-mentioned experts explained, unlike other Android malware applications, LianSpy requires users to take some actions in order to infect the victim’s terminal and once that is done, this dangerous malware performs a verification process to check if it has the required “permissions” to use overlays, read contacts, and access call logs. If not, the Trojan will “request” these permissions from the user, disguising itself as a system app or some financial service.

Likewise, LianSpy hides on the home screen of your Android smartphone and manages to work stealthily in the background using its root permissions, thanks to which this malware can prevent you from receiving a notification in the status bar of your mobile phone when you are using the microphone or camera.

LianSpy is a Trojan that was discovered in March 2024 in Russia, but has now already spread to other regions of the world, so, to prevent your mobile phone from being infected with this dangerous malware, we recommend installing applications only from trusted sources. And avoid alternative clients for some messaging platforms like WhatsApp or Signal.
