Just yesterday, Google released a new security update for Android. Google has started rolling out the latest Android security patch, the August 2024 patch, along with a new security bulletin detailing all the vulnerabilities that have been patched in Google’s mobile operating system over the past few weeks.
Thus, the August Android security update is now available for download on all Google Pixel series devices starting from the Pixel 5a (5G) and above.
Again, the August Android security update doesn't include any new functionality or features, but simply brings a series of fixes that improve the security and stability of the operating system.
Specifically, this new patch resolves 11 security issues discovered in recent weeks, among which we should highlight the following:
- Screen and graphics:
* Fixed the issue of screen brightness flickering under certain conditions.
* General improvements to display performance and stability under certain conditions.
- the system :
* Fixed an issue that sometimes caused devices to enter a reboot loop after a factory reset under certain conditions.
- user interface :
* Fixed stability issues when switching from a user with no screen lock to a user with screen lock under certain conditions.
The May 2024 Android security patch is now rolling out to all supported Google Pixel phones, which includes all models starting from the Pixel 5a onwards. This update will gradually reach all of them via OTA, but if you have one of these phones and don’t want to wait, you can download the update packages for each device and install it manually either via an OTA file or using the corresponding factory image.
