Microsoft, CrowdStrike shares fall after outage hits companies worldwide
Shares of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike Inc. plunged Friday after a security update disrupted internet services worldwide and hurt businesses around the world. The company’s shares fell 14% in premarket trading in the United States.
Global cybersecurity company CrowdStrike announced on Friday a major outage affecting internet use in Singapore, London, Australia and other parts of Europe, as a result of a problem with the latest update.
According to CNBC, CrowdStrike is currently working to pull back the update that caused the global outage.
Additionally, Microsoft shares fell 2% in premarket trading on Friday after the company announced a cloud outage, affecting airlines such as Frontier Airlines, which said its systems were affected by the outage.
Major US airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines grounded flights Friday morning due to connectivity issues, after Microsoft announced it had resolved the cloud outage.
