The Prime Video interface modification is an important step to get rid of one of the most annoying problems in the application. With the new design, a new tab will be allocated to display all the content available for free with a Prime Video subscription, without mixing it with paid movies and series.

New tab to view content

You’ll find the new “ Prime ” tab in the main navigation bar, which is now at the top of the screen, instead of on the left side. In addition to the Movies, TV Shows, Sports, and Live TV options, you’ll find tabs dedicated to other services you subscribe to, like Max, Crunchyroll, and Paramount Plus. If you don’t subscribe to any other services, you’ll see a “Subscriptions” tab that lists services you can subscribe to.

Smart recommendations and personalized content

The new design will also use AI to recommend new titles in “Made for You” collections in the Movies and TV Shows tabs. Amazon says these collections will include titles “tailored to your interests,” whether they’re included in Prime or not.

Prime Video will still show movies for rent or purchase as well as TV shows available on services you don't subscribe to on the home page and the Movies and TV Shows tabs, though the new layout looks more organized than before, and the new Prime tab will at least provide a way to filter out content outside of your subscriptions.

“We are thrilled to be working with Prime Video to create a new, exciting and engaging experience for our customers,” said Kam Kashmiri, VP of Design at Prime Video, in a statement.

“We’re always listening to customers and reviewing feedback, and it’s clear that many are looking for a more streamlined and intuitive streaming experience.” Amazon isn’t the only company shaking up its interface; Netflix also announced it’s testing a new home page aimed at simplifying the streaming experience.
