YouTube app for Android will be similar to iOS version

The YouTube team seems to be testing a tweak to the Android app interface that is somewhat reminiscent of the iOS style. The company is incorporating a faded bottom bar into the app, allowing for better integration with the feed while scrolling. Additionally, they are redesigning some elements to improve the user experience.

Currently, the bottom bar of the YouTube app for Android uses a solid color, which varies depending on whether you’re using Light or Dark mode. However, as 9to5Google reports , many Google OS users have noticed the change we talked about earlier, which allows it to blend in with the main colors of whatever is being displayed in the background.

This effect can be quite colorful, since video thumbnails in the app feed are dynamic. That is, the content starts playing from the thumbnail before the user taps on it. This behavior is configured by default, though it can be disabled if preferred. Either way, the colors of the new faded bottom bar will change depending on what is playing or displayed in the corresponding thumbnail.

It’s not yet known when the new bottom bar will reach all users, or if it will at some point. This wouldn’t be the first time a Google service has tested a change that never makes it to the stable version of the app. However, it does seem like YouTube is getting some major changes soon. For example, a recent report revealed that the company is testing a new mini player in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode and is also considering implementing enhanced options to improve the recommendations offered in the service.
