Finally.. Bill Gates breaks his silence on the Metaverse
Tech giant Bill Gates said he believes business meetings will increasingly take place via avatars in the virtual world "Metaverse" by 2024, according to what he wrote on his blog and was quoted by the media this week.
“Within the next two to three years, I expect most virtual meetings to move from 2D camera image networks to metaverses,” Bill Gates said in his annual blog. And our interactions with it have undoubtedly revolutionized the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Bill Gates also said that technology will continue to evolve until we settle on a more permanent way of working. “We abandoned spontaneity in communication when we started working from home, and this has been continually compensated by evolving technology. Accelerating innovation is just getting started.” Bill Gates also mentioned that great strides have been made in the field of spatial sound. :
We don't realize the importance of spatial audio until we focus on the direction a person's voice is coming from. It feels like an actual meeting when a person's voice comes from the same direction(s) that is visible to others in the same meeting."
The technologies that power Metaverse are still the subject of extensive research and experimentation. The key will be to replicate the human experience we have in the real world today. “There is still some work to be done, but we are approaching the threshold as technology begins to replicate the experience of being together in the office,” Gates wrote.
