The "Take a Break" function of Instagram is only available on the iPhone app right now.
Over the last few years, there's been a lot of talk about "social media addiction." It's easy to lose track of time reading through endless photo feeds on applications like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
That's why Instagram added "Take a Break" and "Daily Limit" to deal with social media addiction. Both features urge users to exit the program after a certain amount of time has passed, thus breaking the scrolling cycle.
Although the Take a Break option is only accessible on the iPhone, you can set your Daily Limit on both the iPhone and Android. Here's how you do it.
How to set a daily Instagram limit
Once you've used Instagram too much in a single day, the Daily Limit feature will remind you to close it.
1. Open Instagram and tap the bottom-right corner of your profile image.
2. Select Your Activity from the three stacked lines in the top-right corner of the page.

You can set the timer for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours on an iPhone. You can choose any amount of time up to 23 hours and 5 minutes on an Android.
5. Select Done (iPhone) or Set Reminder (Android) (Android).
A pop-up will show whenever you've reached your time restriction, informing you.

How to use the Take a Break feature on Instagram
Once you've used the app for a long period without closing it, Take a Break will remind you to stop using it.
This can only be done using the iPhone app.
1. Open Instagram and tap the bottom-right corner of your profile image.
2. Select Your Activity from the three stacked lines in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Tap Set reminder to take breaks in the Time tab, under Manage Your Time.

Your reminder will appear if you keep the app open for that long without closing it.
