Know the specifications, size and manufacturer of RAM

In this article, we will shed light on RAM, or as we call it RAM, where we will show you an explanation of how to know all the specifications of the RAM used on your device and the name of its manufacturer, whether it is on a desktop PC or laptop. In general, there are several ways to know the specifications of RAM, whether through Windows itself without using programs or by installing some free programs specialized in that, as we will explain below.

It is worth noting that RAM is one of the most important parts of the hardware in any computer, as it is the part responsible for the speed of the computer and the processor, and by knowing the specifications and type of RAM, you will be able to determine the appropriate RAM for your device in case you want to increase the total space for it.

The method that we will show you allows you to know all the specifications, including the speed, the producing company as I mentioned, its serial number and its total size.

How to find out the specifications of the RAM:

1- Through Task Manager:

The first method is through the task manager for devices running Windows 10 or Windows 11, where we can access it directly by right-clicking on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then clicking on Task Manager. After that, a window will appear, from which we enter the Performance tab as shown in the following image, and then click on Memory from the side menu, in order to enter the RAM specifications.

We will then see everything related to the RAM in your device from detailed data, whether its total size and the usable size Memory usage, and at the bottom you will find the space used in real time and available without use, as well as the speed of the RAM in megahertz, and the number of slots used in the motherboard Slotes used. Windows 7 users can also apply the same steps, but in the case of Windows 10 more data is as shown.

2- Through the CMD command prompt:

The second method will be through a Windows command prompt called CMD, where we can access it by typing cmd in Windows search in the taskbar below and press Command Prompt or it can be accessed by pressing the Windows sign button + the letter R together at once, to open a RUN window, in which we type the word CMD and then press the ENTER button from the keyboard. After opening the command prompt, which is in black, we will copy the following command, place it in it, and then press the ENTER button.

We wait a very little bit, as the command prompt will show you all the detailed data related to the RAM, its manufacturer, its serial number, speed and total capacity as shown in the following image.

Note for the second method, if the number under the word MemoryType is "0" as in the picture, this means that your RAM is DDR4, but if this number is "24", this means that the RAM is DDR3.

3- Using CPU-Z software:

If you do not prefer to use methods that do not depend on the use of previous programs, you can try this free program, which is considered one of the best programs to display the specifications of computers and laptops in general. First download CPU-Z from its official website, install it on your device, then open the program to show you the main window for it as in the following image.

After that, you click on the Memory tab at the top of the program to show us all the specifications of the RAM on the computer, whether its type, size, number of chips that have been installed, as well as the speed of the RAM and some other details below.
