Sony is preparing to announce the PlayStation 5 Pro

Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4 Pro in early September 2016, about three years after the PlayStation 4 hit shelves. The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020 and Sony has yet to announce a PlayStation 5 Pro, but it looks like the enhanced version of the console isn’t far off.

During the recent Gamescom 2024 event, a video game industry event, rumors emerged that the PlayStation 5 Pro was about to launch.

A journalist from Multiplayer, an Italian site, shared that one of the developers present at the show had to delay his game due to the upcoming release of this improved console. This information suggests that Sony could be preparing to unveil the PlayStation 5 Pro at any time.

Another source, Wccftech, corroborated these rumors by noting that another developer at Gamescom also received details about the PS5 Pro’s specs, and according to this source, Unreal Engine 5, a next-generation graphics engine, will run more efficiently on the PS5 Pro. While the developers did not reveal specific details, previous reports suggest a 45% performance improvement.

Despite the rumors, the exact release date remains a mystery. However, a July 2024 report from industry analyst William R. Aguilar suggests that Sony could announce the PS5 Pro in September and launch it in November, following a similar schedule to the PS4 Pro.

However, as of yet, Sony has not officially confirmed these plans, so it is important to maintain a degree of skepticism.
